The Twin Peaks Elementary School Parents, Teachers, and Friends organization (PTF) is sponsoring a community service project entitled, “Nothing but Nets,” in order to raise funds to purchase mosquito nets for children in Africa to help stop the spread of malaria. Students have been involved in various activities to raise their awareness about malaria prevention. Classrooms were “Buzzed” with homemade mosquitoes. Each class researched a fact about malaria and wrote it onto a card attached to the mosquito before “Buzzing” another class. During a school-wide assembly, student council members performed a skit and second grade students sang a song to also help raise malaria awareness. Finally, students participated in net games during Nothing but Nets Field Day on Friday, April 25. You can help our Tiger Cubs stomp out malaria by making a $10.00 donation to purchase a bed net for the Nothing but Nets project.
Sixth grade students will be recognized at a ceremony in the cafeteria at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21.
